CNN is just out with the first batch of exit polling. On issues, voters were asked what was most important to them in this election. Unlike 2004, when "Values" won a plurality on this question, this year "Economy" was selected by 62% of those polled.

The next most important was the Iraq War at 10% - not even close.

Substance
So, when an election is about inconsequential BS, Republicans win. When it's about substance, Democrats win.

It's so funny that when the economy is in the crapper, people vote Democrat. But, then they put Republicans right back in to ruin it.
